The Sisal Rug I'm Considering Striping - I'll move the other one to the kitchen or office

I love stripes. I've considered painting them almost everywhere from a "rug" on the front porch, to the walls of the bath, to the floor of my office. Lately, my living room has commanded my striped focus. While I love the Oriental rug currently on top of the sisal, its dark colors feel a little heavy in the room. Perhaps its better suited for the kitchen. I've been looking around the interwebs and they say its pretty easy to paint a sisal rug. Hmmmmm.

So about painting a sisal rug - Thoughts? Tips? Warnings?
